That one Sentence!

You don't have to follow the same old structure you learned growing up.

The same old structure that almost everybody uses, the same old structure that you professors in college make you write in, the same old structure that is just plain old BORING. The "five paragraph" format that is made up of one paragraph for the introduction of what you are going to tell your readers, then you have the three paragraphs in the middle or the body that tell the readers what you want them to get out of it, then you have the conclusion that tells the readers what you said. How dumb? You basically just told the reader the same information three times. If they are good readers and interested readers then they are probably going to read it again or if it was good enough then they probably understood everything the first time they read it. So who is to tell us we have to write in a certain format? Maybe you professor or teacher that is wanting a specific format. But as a teacher should you not allow your students to write freely and in a way that they feel comfortable. What if the way one of your students writes is unlike anybody has ever written? Maybe the way they write is a format that will make him or her famous, who knows? So making somebody write in a certain format is just dumb, for they are a free person and you may be forcing them to write in a way that is uncomfortable. Why be uncomfortable when writing, when writing should be relaxing and a time when you get away from everything else in the world.
