Garth Brooks, one of if not the best singer, songwriter and performer in the history of music. But of course he did not write every song that he has ever sang, but he has written or helped write many of the songs he has sang though. His music is amazing and I am sure that millions of other would agree since almost all of his concerts have been sold out. His performances are amazing to watch even if you are watching it Live on HBO. While on stage he always seems to be getting the crowd pumped up and getting them involved in his songs. Overall he is just an amazing performer in that aspect.
His music always seems to have some type of purpose or meaning to it. For example, in the song "The Change" he sings about the Oklahoma City bombings that occured. This song is a very emotional song from the first time I heard it and every time i have heard it after since that time and it probably makes some people very emotional every time they hear it. So Garth Brooks in my eyes is one of the best musicians/performers in my lifetime. Even though he is "retired" he still seems to put out a few songs and even a performance here and there.

I’ll have to admit it took me a few times through that music video to figure out just what was going on. I’ll also have to admit that contemporary country is one of the few genres that I really dislike and your post hasn’t really changed my mind on this point. However, I do agree that Garth Brooks clearly has superstar status as a performer. As far as actual talent goes, he’s clearly got it and many people I know hold him in high esteem as an artist. My opinions on musical preference and religion are a lot alike: you’re entitled to your opinion, just don’t shove it in my face. So, while I don’t think that I’ll become a die-hard Garth Brooks fan any time soon, I appreciate your opinion.
